Publication: Maths Through Picture Books pilot report

Oxford MeasurEd conducted a mixed-methods implementation and process evaluation (IPE) of a pilot of Maths Through Picture Books in 19 reception classes in South East England. Our pilot evaluation investigated whether the programme had evidence of promise to support the Theory of Change, was feasible to implement and deliver, and was ready to be evaluated in a trial.

Our evaluation highlighted that:

  1. Mentors to support in-school delivery in the future could help with consistency in coverage, quality and content.

  2. Improvements in enjoyment and motivation towards learning maths were observed

  3. The programme is ready to be evaluated in a trial.
