Publication: Early Skills for Life Pilot Protocol
Oxford MeasurEd is conducting the independent pilot evaluation of Early Skills for Life (ESfL), a 20-week programme developed by Partnership for Children to build self-regulation and personal, social, and emotional skills in 3 to 4-year-olds. The programme is funded by the EEF and is delivered across 20 early years settings during the 2026/27 academic year, ESfL combines whole-class story-based sessions, small-group support, staff training, and family engagement activities.
The pilot protocol outlines evaluation methodology, which assesses the programme's feasibility, acceptability to practitioners and families, and readiness to progress to a full efficacy trial. The mixed-methods study includes practitioner and parent interviews, classroom observations, practitioner surveys, and piloting of a self-regulation outcome measure. The final report will be published in early 2028.
