Learning Partnership for Right to Play Rwanda’s Learning Through Play E-Training and Certification Programme

Over the next two years (2022-2024) Right To Play is designing, building, and piloting a blended learning through play E-training and Certification program. The blended approach will train and certify up to 3,000 primary school teachers in Rwanda, inspiring them to facilitate more collaborative, engaging, and playful learning classrooms. The purpose of this programme is to demonstrate a model for training and certification which can be taken on and scaled by the government of Rwanda.  

The program will be implemented in partnership with the LEGO Foundation, a global academic partner, the Rwanda Education Board, and the University of Rwanda-College of Education (UR-CE), as well as various technical partner with expertise in the delivery of online learning.  

Oxford MeasurEd is working in a learning partnership, lead by Laterite Research in Rwanda. The purpose of the learning partnership is to provide Right to Play with evidence for to support their innovation across the programme cycle. This work leverages our expertise in teacher training programmes, learning through play and learning assessments with a socio-emotional skills focus.   

Key Activities: 

  • A Context study to provide an understanding of teachers' relationship with technology and blended learning in Rwanda 

  • A design study to provide inputs to support the design of the e-certification programme 

  • Baseline and endline evaluations to trave the impact of the programme, and to provide evidence for future scale up or adaptation 

  • A deep dive study to learn more about a specific issue related to the e-certification programme.
